I’m back after a wonderful summer with friends and family. I can’t wait to share our holiday photos with you but in the meantime I’ll let you in on a few of our highlights and lowlights:
Highlights:
My son has been potty trained!
Pretty fantastic, bug free weather.
Yummy new recipes including a chicken burger with curry mayo & mango, a crunchy quick cucumber salad and ice cream cake with meringue.
Pool time and discovering that my son loves water slides… over and over and over and over.
Fun times with my sister and her family who flew in from the UK including my british brother-in-laws first weiner roast.
Cucumbers grown in my own backyard.
Catching up with friends on sandy beaches and in fresh air.
Alex sleeping through the night (except during teething… see below).
Ice cream. Wine. Coronitas.
Lowlights:
Flat tires on dusty roads in the middle of nowhere. (But a highlight is my friend randomly showing up to help!)
Potty training. Poop.
Discovering there is such a thing as a skullet.
A teething baby (especially on long flights).
Rain during soccer practice. Nearly every one…
Friday afternoon traffic driving north to the Laurentians.
Discovering that they are yet again (for the third time and second summer?) ripping up Rue St. Jacques in St. Henri.
and my biggest lowlight…
Comfort breastfeeding a screaming baby in the Walmart parking lot.
(!)
Can’t wait to get going again and hearing how your summer went. Any highlights or lowlights you want to share?
Haha! As I read your list and got to the lowlights, I could totally relate to the item “potty training: poop” and chuckled. We are in the process of potty training our daughter and that’s definitely the lowlight of that process. A highlight for me was starting my own blog, and forming a new partnership with a long-time friend. Other than that, the summer has been great. I’m excited to get my daughter started in preschool and get back to work! Sounds like yours was great! Can’t wait for the chicken burger recipe!!
Isn’t life all about highlights and lowlights!? Can’t just be one or the other! So glad to hear that you’re having a great time and I’ll try and get that recipe up soon!
