I’ve been noticing on my peripheral a plethora of nineties-grungy-gothic-ugly sweaters mostly worn with skirts or skinny jeans and chelsea boots. I was wondering if this was really a thing when I hopped onto Ssense and was assaulted with a vast selection of photos to choose from for this post confirming that this was in fact a ‘thing’.

They’ve all got this fuzzy TV screen sort of look, and are usually nubbly.

I’ve been a bit unfair and called them ugly. It’s not that they are ugly they just take a bit getting used to. The bigger proportions, the aformentioned nubbles…

And I have to admit I picked up one while I was out at Loblaws buying milk (it’s not the one above but very similar). And while we are on the topic of Loblaws it seems that all the fashionable people decide to go shopping at about 2:00 on a Wednesday afternoon? Seriously, my local Loblaws is home to some on-trend fashionistas (Cavendish & St-Jacques if you will…)
What do you think? Are you interested in picking one up or freaked out how all these global brands decided to make similar takes on this sweater?!
