Despite the fact that the name of my blog is called Roasted, no, it is not a coffee blog. And, I don’t actually know that much about coffee. When you have a kid that gets up between 5:00 – 5:30 pretty much anything strong will do. But, I want to learn more about coffee and this whole Third Wave coffee thing. A recent visit to Café Odessa on Beaubien introduced me to Pilot Coffee Roasters out of Toronto. They track and source coffee by travelling to the origin. As their website says, they meet the growers, tour their farms, get to know them and work out an agreement face to face. I absolutely love that model. I just feel there are so many faceless corporations that get their food from who knows where and who knows what is in it (horse meat scandal anyone?) Plus, I can taste the difference (and I probably could at 5am too).
So how about figuring out what I like and what I don’t like? A coffee subscription sounds like a good idea. For what works out to $20 per month you get a 12 oz bag of coffee sent straight to your door. Subscriptions come in 3, 6 or 12 month bundles. It also sounds like an amazing gift for a coffee lover who has everything. Now I just need to dig out the grinder!
Hi Michelle,
You should take a look at http://www.TwiceCoffee.com
It’s a coffee subscription box from Montreal!
Have a great one,
Jean-Luc
Thanks – I will definitely check it out!
