Tacos Victor is a new taco joint on Notre-Dame Ouest that offers large, filling tacos. All tacos are $6 and there is a choice of bavette, chorizo, shrimp, vegetarian, tongue and striploin. For the bambinos (under 10) there’s even a taquito for $3.50.
There’s also a small selection of house juices and sodas.
I was recommended the chorizo and also went with the bavette. I was assured that two tacos is enough and it definitely was more than filling. The tacos came with beautifully fried onions and thin cut french fries. There was also a selection of three salsa to help yourself to, limes, radishes and cucumbers.
The tacos were wonderful and filling. The addition of an extra tortilla kept things in place. I actually preferred the bavette but they were both great.
The cafe is quite stylishly done up and is pretty much literally standing room only. There is a bench with four seats against the window, but no tables facing each other. I initially came with friends for a sit down lunch and we decided against it. Instead, I went for takeaway another day.
Decor: Fairly swish and trendy. Heavy on the wood and wrought iron.
Service: Very quick but I ordered early (11:45) and there was only one other party there.
Prices: I thought it was reasonable.
Food: I really liked my tacos and devoured them.
Good For: Takeaway or lunch on the fly.
Baby Friendly: Not really. You can get your stroller in (there are two steps up) and there is room to stroll around but if you wanted to eat there you’d have to try and grab the front row and sit them beside you in your stroller. I didn’t see any high chairs. Go there and take your tacos to go.
