I have had the pleasure of working with Lyndsay Borschke, founder extraordinaire of Tuck Shop Trading Co., on several articles but until now haven’t mentioned her on this blog. Which is a shame because not only does Lyndsay make beautiful clothing and funky toques, all of it is made locally with love.
Lyndsay’s toques featuring Toronto ‘hoods have been popular since she launched her line City of Neighbourhoods and now she’s expanded to Montreal!
I love the fact that she didn’t just focus on central Montreal but included Laval and the always difficult to pronounce AND spell Longueuil. The Montreal line is even made right here in Montreal.
Of course, I’m partial to the Westmount toque (it even matches my eyes!) but aren’t they all pretty cool? She currently has a line for kids representing Toronto neighbourhoods and fingers crossed she’ll expand into Montreal. She also has versions for LA, NYC, a Canada toque, and toques representing Toronto’s cottage country not to mention the original line with Toronto ‘hoods. Live somewhere else? She’s thinking of expanding all the time so you may be able to proudly show off your own ‘hood on your head soon.
Available online, at Alton Gray or Clark Street Mercantile (where I’m sure the Mile End toques are flying off the shelves!)
One day Ahuntsic will be cool… 😉
(And to think that Laval is in there!)
Ahuntsic is cool no? I’m sure one day there will be a toque for you!
It’s going to be 40 degrees today… toques . Not yet.
Yeah – I know but…. we all know what’s coming!
