I’ve always been a little bit fascinated with countries that no one’s really heard of or visited. I’m reading a book that takes place partly in Angola right now (which is such an infuriating and tragic story of extreme wealth and poverty), and have read books on such hotspots as Iran, and Azerbaijan. I’ve visited Bulgaria. But North Korea stands apart. What is going on there? That’s why the Instagram account of David Guttenfelder, a photographer with the Associate Press is so fascinating. I have no idea how he has such access, but each photograph is a glimpse into another time and another world. All photos above are from his Instagram account.
