I know this is a food blog.. but what a perfect place but on an indulgent food blog to talk about getting in shape and working off some of those extra calories!
I was recently invited to attend a Barre class at Dita Pilates Studio on Sherbrooke in NDG, and no I didn’t think I was going to be mixing cocktails. I’d heard about these Barre classes inspired by the Core Stability Barre method from STOTT PILATES and was very curious. I’m not much of a ballerina, but I admire their grace and beauty (and booty…) so I was happy to give it a try.
We only did half an hour of the hour class just to have a taster but wow, it was enough. This class really works your core and lower body (which let’s face it ladies, is the area we fret on the most) and seriously – 2 or 3 of these classes a week and I know I’d be a whole new firmer and stronger me.
Dita is an absolute sweetheart, but also very encouraging and ready to push when needed. She holds a full certification (7 levels) with STOTT PILATES as well as certification in specialized group fitness training. She has a whole other slew of classes to choose from that she is fully certified in teaching. These include reformers (those intense looking machines), and TRX training in addition to the Ballet Barre classes. She also does private lessons at her studio. Prices for her classes are $25 per class, $23 per 10 class package, or $20 per 20 class package.
Thanks Dita and I think you and I have a date in the near future!
