I recently bought new frames (I got these with the blue arms) but I was a little overwhelmed at the price of the glasses in pretty much every shop I visited. I was talking to a friend about this when she said she went to a warehouse and tried on frames through an online company called BonLook.
BonLook is an online retailer which sells frames for just $129 but lucky Montrealers can also visit their showroom which is handily located in St-Henri to try on frames. (There’s also a kiosk in Brossard)
I have the tiniest face so was curious as to what they would come up with for me through their ‘Perfect Fit‘ questionnaire. I was given four suggestions based on my preferences which I could then virtually try on alone in private in the comfort of my own home.
OK, clearly not my red carpet moment, but you get the idea.
The only catch for me is that my prescription is so strong that they are actually unable to fill it. I’d have to see if an optician around here were willing to fill the frames with lenses. But, for your average joe (i.e. someone who isn’t semi-blind) I think this is such a great, much more affordable option.
They also offer sunglasses which are only $99!
Check out their website here!

Maybe it has changed but last time I tried you couldn’t get shipping in Quebec. They have a law that you can’t buy prescription glasses online.
Interesting – it doesn’t seem to mention anything on the website. That would be a bit ironic as it’s a Quebec based company!

Hello,
I’m the CEO of BonLook and I just wanted to clarify that we have been able to strike an agreement with an optometrist in Quebec allowing us to sell glasses to people in Quebec. It has indeed changed since the CBC news report aired.
Thank you so much for reporting on BonLook! I look forward to seeing you in a showroom soon!
Happy ordering!
Felix
Hi Felix,
Thanks for clarifying! You’ve mentioned a showroom but can residents of Quebec order online as well?
Thanks,
Michelle
Just at the show room or can we order online?
I’ve asked the CEO. If he doesn’t reply to the comment I’ll send him an email.
I’ve heard from the CEO and Quebec residents can order online!
