I ordered my mom a present from Foodie Pages for Mother’s Day recently, and since she won’t see it until after this is posted, I will keep what I bought a secret. But, I thought I’d share my picks from this great Canadian website which is essentially an online farmers market where you can buy directly from Canadian food producers, farmers and artisans. I love this idea because it gives another sales outlet, and a much wider audience to small producers who may not have the audience locally. AND of course because it allows me to try food from all across Canada. I do want to mention that each artisan ships separately, so unless you don’t mind multiple shipping charges I’d go for more products from fewer producers, than a lot of little products from multiple producers. The subscription box is another option to try multiple producers without a big postal charge.
My picks:
Chef’s Box Subscription – Available in 1, 3 or 6 month options, each month you receive gourmet foods curated by a top Canadian Chef. I love the surprise bit!
Tasting Box Subscription – Currently sold out! However, get on the waiting list to try 5 tastes every month from some of Canada’s top food makers!
Dinette Nationale Hazelnut Caramel Spread – $10.00
Make your own poutine curd!!! Amazing! Make Cheese Proud Poutine Kit – $34.95
A gorgeous charcuterie board from On Our Table – $250
This one just sounds intriguing – Preservation Society White Grapefruit Marmalade with Vanilla – $10.00
There is really so much on the website, and I think for mother’s day I’ll treat myself to a one month subscription! I’ll let you know how it turns out!
Thanks for the tips! I’ve been looking for so long for this kind of website; Canadian monthly foodie box, yay!! 🙂 i’ve just subscribe to the monthly Tasting Box (so unexpensive!), it didnt sent me anything about being on a waiting list because it was sold out.. Maybe the delivery status changed since you wrote your article, so i wanted to let you know 🙂
