I haven’t been able to make it into the hair salon in absolute ages and it’s sort of driving me nuts. So nuts in fact that I had a friend of mind come over and chop off a couple inches of hair with sewing scissors.
My mom is coming to visit so she can look after Alex and I can have an hour or so of freedom (freedom!) and get my hair cut. And I’m totally going for the lob (i.e. a long bob).
I love the soft curls but have to be realistic. I have thick thick fine hair that takes forever to style and doesn’t hold a curl. I’ll most likely be rocking the straight hair lob. I’m super excited to chop it off, but I’m sure when it comes to the day of I’ll have jitters.
What do you think about the lob?

I lobbed on my last haircut and love it. Stylist recc’d it (I had never even heard of it) and its the best haircut I have ever had. Cant pull off the straight but the curly looks ace. Sure you will love it!
OOoh – I’m so excited! Thanks for the courage!
I’ll miss cutting your locks, but go for it!! I’m also sorta bias 😉 My lob has served me well these past few months!
Love this! I’m planning to go this week too! So excited 🙂

Ohhh I love these! My hair is almost this length due to breakage from using hot iron tools on my locks a liiiiitle too much. oopsies. Either way, rocking a hair style is always fun – hair is such a frame for your face that ya gotta love it!!!
.:Marta:.
I’m in your shoes! I too have the very, very thick fine straight hair that won’t hold a curl. My toddler’s life has overtaken mine so I haven’t had a haircut in 6 months! And I too have been slowly, silently thinking about a lob.
I’m a tad worried that it might look much better with curled strands and I can barely manage more than a blow dry just to take the ‘wet’ off most days. If I can’t achieve a basic blowout, should I take this on?
Unless… I think that I could handle hot rollers. Or do I try to befriend the curling iron? And does therein lie the road to ruin (i.e. self-grip rollers)? And because I’ve always had hair that looked beautiful when it was styled but then any ‘style’ or ‘curl’ would fall out within an hour or two. I’ve read positive things about the ‘Curl Secret’ but don’t know if the curls it gives would be too small (since I had the spiral perm in the 80s & don’t need another one).
I’ll happily pay my stylist $120 for the haircut but hate to ‘waste’ another $100 on a curler if it doesn’t work or I end up not using it.
Let me know how you go!
Another thick, fine hair gal!
I think it would look better curly, but I’m willing to take the chance. There’s no way I have time for a curling iron, and there’s no use because just like you – it falls out an hour later no matter what. I’ll let you know how it goes!!! I’m so curious to see how it turns out 🙂
