Jean-Luc from Twice Coffee Subscription recently contacted me to ask if I’d be interested in receiving December’s box from his Montreal based coffee subscription service. Ummm… my kid still wakes up multiple times a night, I love mail and caffeine is my friend – so yes, please!
Twice is pretty simple. Each month, they pick 2 coffees from popular roasters around the world and ship it to subscribers. The coffee I received was from Brulerie du Quai (Gaspesie, QC) and Dallis Brothers (Queens, NY). Coming up they’ll be sending out coffee from such great roasters as Ritual, Barefoot, 49th Parallel (my fave!) and Blue Bottle amongst others.
This would be a perfect last minute gift for that person who is hard to buy for and has everything. I mean, you need to regularly buy coffee and what a thrill to receive different roasters every month. I love the tasting notes, and stats that come along. You might discover you like coffee from a certain country, or altitude or grower. Plus, it’s cool looking up where exactly your coffee comes from (or am I just a map nerd?) I am sipping on the Dallis Bros coffee as I write this, and yes, I do taste Milk Chocolate (see the tasting notes above). I love that stuff. Plus, you can throw around your newfound knowledge to your hipper than though third wave friends. For example: “yeah – I found the lemony acidity in the Brulerie du Quai coffee really went well with my waffles and was surprised it was so profound for a coffee coming from that altitude.” That line was clearly made up, but it sounded knowledgeable – no?
And, I worked it out – the least expensive subscription The Novice costs $19 and makes more than 32 cups of coffee. That 0.60 a cup of premium coffee – even McCafé can’t beat that.
So there you go… happy brewing!
ps If you want to give this as a gift just change the billing address after checkout in your account settings!

I received this coffee for free, but opinions are my own!
