What is the souk @ sat? It’s essentially an independent artisan market, but it’s also a launchpad for Montreal artists to unveil their works to the public for the first time, to pursue their dream and to make a career out of their art. If there’s anyone who believes in following their dreams and trying to make a career out of something they love, it’s me and I love the idea of this market.
I’m heading there today and can’t wait to check it out.
This year for the 10 year anniversary they have invited back 10 ambassadors who made the most of souk @ sat to propel their careers. These 10 artists, all from different disciplines, have created an exclusive piece in a limited edition in 10. Many of these 10 artists are now well known companies in Montreal – Dinette Nationale, Breed Knitting (sold at Lowell), raplapla (see Dinette Nationale) and Pearls Before Swine.. whose jewelry I fell in love with at Reborn… (rose lichen stud earrings I am still thinking about you!) are just a few of the famous names.
The rest of the list is pretty swish too with english muffin (such cute prints!), Woolfell (gorgeous bags), betina lou (beautiful women’s clothing), and Société Orignal (rare local ingredients). These were just the ones that jumped out at me, and there are so many more. Honestly, I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to attend.
If you get the chance, check it out!
