I am so so happy to find this excellent little brunch spot on Monkland Avenue here in NDG.  There are so many reasons I love it:

a) Interesting menu
b) Willingness to move tables around for multiple strollers
c) Bacon is amazing (oh, and the rest of the food is too)
d) Friendly staff

Let’s start off with the menu.  Don’t get me wrong – I like a little eggs and bacon every once in a while too but Maple Fried Challah French Toast ($13)?  Don’t even get me started!  Huge slices of French Toast covered with cinnamon sugar and a piece of fried chicken?  Delicious!  For those of you wondering about the fried chicken, I assume it’s because down South (as in the Southern USA, not Brossard) chicken and waffles is a thing.  And it’s a yummy thing!  I personally have no problem eating savory for breakfast and this is a brunch after all.

I’ve also had the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes ($13) which are so cute and lemony.  This dish comes with thick cut bacon which is wonderful.  Even the Currant & Pecorino Scone ($4) was hot, fresh and flaky.  It was not the dry scone puck you are often served.  I have yet to try the Triple Chocolate Butterscotch Pretzel Cookie ($2) or the Salmon Gravlax ($14) but you can bet I’ll be back there pretty quick.  And that’s it!  A short but sweet brunch menu, which I think is just as it should be.

The lunch items also look very yummy but I have yet to try them out.  Hotdog on a homemade bun?  I may have to break my hotdog ban to try it!  Cajun shrimp po’boy?  Bành mi pita?  Seriously, this restaurant is what Monkland needs right now, and I am so happy to have it in my ‘hood.

Thank-you Prohibition.  I think you and I are going to become BFF’s.

Decor: It’s OK – nothing too memorable.  The terrace in the summer is nice though.
Service: Friendly and efficient.
Price: I think it’s reasonable.  Brunch mains are $13 – $14 and are filling.
Food: Yum!  Creative, and tasty.
Good For: Friends and family looking for something different from the usual bacon, eggs and toast.
