Chez Boris

I don’t get out that much these days. In fact, I haven’t really gotten out for the last 9 months or so which includes 7 months with a baby and 2 months when I was heavily pregnant and not wanting to move. I mean, I do get out for walks, to the park, the grocery store… I just don’t get out that much from NDG after the hours of 5:00. So when I do, I like to make it count. I have a hit list, and Chez Boris was on it.
Chez Boris is a place which is hip, but not painfully so. Located on du Parc, they are a large-ish café serving fresh doughnuts straight up and as a doughnut-sandwich (beignewich en français). I was there for the doughnut, straight up.
All doughnuts are made to order and I just asked for a dozen in a variety of flavours. It ends up the flavours are simply sugar, cinnamon or chocolate, which was just fine with me. They are small, and chewy. When hot, they are beautiful. I imagine them being a tasty treat on a cold winters day. The staff get bonus points for being friendly.
Decor: Nice, not overdone.
Service: Friendly and courteous
Price: I think it’s reasonable. You can see the prices in the picture I’ve taken above. I got a dozen doughnuts for $6. I was happy.
Food: I liked it, especially hot of course. A bit chewy and a bit crispy.
Good For: Friends, lunch, snacks, anytime…
Baby Friendly: Yes! Look at all that room! I see a mom meet-up in the future…. I can’t comment on the bathrooms and if they are diaper changing friendly or not though.
